Cable cutter Gedore 1396722
The Gedore 1396722 cable cutter is a double-function electricians' side cutter designed for cutting and stripping wire. It features stripping notches for single- and multi-core conductors with cross-sections of 1.5 mm² and 2.5 mm², induction-hardened precision cutting edges with a hardness of 61–63 HRC, and is made from Gedore special hardened and tempered steel. The tool is drop-forged, oil-hardened and annealed, chrome-plated (JC) and fitted with two-component handles. Weighing approximately 235 g, it is suitable for professional and DIY electrical work.
The tool combines cutting and stripping functions in a single lightweight design, reducing the need to switch tools. Hardened precision cutting edges ensure clean cuts and long edge life, while the special Gedore steel and heat treatment process provide high durability and resistance to wear. Chrome plating protects the metal surfaces, and the two-component handles improve grip and handling during use.
Place the wire between the cutting blades and squeeze the handles firmly to make a clean cut. For stripping, insert the conductor into the appropriate stripping notch for the conductor cross-section (1.5 mm² or 2.5 mm²), hold the tool steady and pull the insulation away from the end of the wire. Use controlled pressure to avoid nicking the conductor when stripping. Maintain a comfortable grip on the two-component handles for safer handling.
Inspect the tool before use for damage or excessive wear on the cutting edges. Keep the tool clean and lightly lubricate the joint periodically. Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion despite the chrome plating. Do not use the cutters on hardened steel wires or materials beyond the recommended conductor sizes to avoid damaging the cutting edges.
