Pliers Gedore 6701460
Gedore 6701460 retaining ring pliers are designed for use with external retaining rings to standards DIN 471, DIN 983 and DIN 5254 Form A. The tool has straight tips, an integrated opening spring and clamping protection. Made from forged Gedore chrome‑vanadium special steel that is hardened and tempered, the pliers are precision machined, oil hardened and annealed. Handles are black with red dip coating. Compact and lightweight — width 78 mm, height 58 mm, weight 98 g — the pliers are intended for accurate assembly and disassembly of rings on shafts and housings.
The pliers combine hardened and tempered chrome‑vanadium steel construction with precision machining for durability and consistent tip geometry. An opening spring enables fast, one‑handed operation while clamping protection reduces the risk of ring loss during work. Straight tips fit standard external retaining rings (DIN 471, DIN 983, DIN 5254 Form A) and the red dipped handles improve grip and visibility.
Position the straight tips into the holes or notches of the external retaining ring, squeeze the handles to open the ring and remove or place it onto the shaft or into the housing. The opening spring assists returning the pliers to the open position for repeat operations. Use the clamping protection feature to hold the ring securely while moving it, reducing the chance of accidental release.
Inspect tips before use for wear or damage to ensure correct engagement with retaining rings. Apply light machine oil to the pivot occasionally to maintain smooth action. Do not use the pliers on rings or parts outside the specified standards or on fasteners where different tool types are required.
