Pliers Gedore 6703400
Gedore 6703400 pliers are designed for working with retaining rings and circlips manufactured to DIN 472, DIN 984 and DIN 5256 Form C. The tool features straight tips and is forged from Gedore chrome‑vanadium special steel that has been hardened and tempered, with precision machining and oil hardening and annealing. The pliers are finished in black with blue dipped handles and weigh 164 g, with overall dimensions approximately 67 mm wide and 53 mm high.
Forged chrome‑vanadium construction and heat treatment provide high hardness and wear resistance. Precision machining ensures accurate tip fit for retaining rings per the specified DIN standards. Oil hardening and annealing improve toughness, while the blue dipped handles give improved grip and a clear visual identification. Compact, lightweight design supports precise handling in confined spaces.
Select the correct pliers orientation for external or internal rings and position the straight tips into the ring holes or ends. Apply steady pressure to expand or compress the ring as required, then carefully remove or install the ring on the shaft or bore. Maintain control of the tool and ring during the operation to avoid loss or damage. Use appropriate personal protective equipment, such as eye protection, when working with retaining rings under tension.
For reliable performance, inspect tips before use for wear or damage and avoid using the pliers on parts outside the intended DIN sizes. Clean and lightly lubricate pivot joints periodically and store the pliers in a dry place to prevent corrosion. Replace the tool if tips become deformed or worn beyond safe tolerances.
