Drill bit GEKO step HSS TiAlN 4–32 mm, model G38562, pack of 100
Step drill bit GEKO G38562 is a professional HSS step drill with TiAlN (titanium aluminium nitride) coating, covering a cutting diameter range of 4–32 mm in a single tool. The single-flute stepped geometry allows progressive drilling and enlargement of holes without changing tools, suitable for work on sheet metal, plastics and other thin materials. Supplied as a pack of 100 pieces, this set is intended for tasks that require frequent, consistent hole sizing in production, installation and maintenance environments.
The TiAlN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life during high-speed or continuous use. The HSS core provides toughness and edge retention when cutting thin metals and plastics. Single-flute stepped geometry reduces chip clogging and enables smooth step-by-step enlargement of holes to precise diameters. Supplied in a bulk pack of 100, the set ensures quick replacement and continuity of work in repetitive operations.
Secure the step drill bit in a compatible drill or drill press chuck, ensuring the straight shank is properly seated and tightened. Mark the centre of the intended hole and start drilling at low speed to establish the pilot entry, then increase speed according to material and coating recommendations. Apply moderate, steady pressure and allow the single-flute step to cut progressively through material until the desired step diameter is reached. Use cutting fluid for metals to reduce heat and improve finish; for plastics, reduce speed to avoid melting. After use, clean chips from the flute and inspect the cutting edges before next operation.
For best results on steel and harder alloys, use cutting lubricant and moderate speeds to preserve the TiAlN coating and HSS core. Start with a pilot hole in very thin or flexible materials to prevent walking. Replace worn bits from the pack to maintain hole quality; keep bits dry and stored in a protective container to prevent corrosion and damage.
