3D printing filament Gembird PETG 1.75 mm Black 1 kg
Gembird PETG 3D printing filament, 1.75 mm diameter, black colour on a 1 kg spool. Made from Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG), this filament is designed for FDM/FFF printers and offers a balance of strength, chemical resistance and low shrinkage. It is compatible with a wide range of machines including high-speed models and CoreXY systems, and is suitable for functional parts, prototypes and everyday items where durability and dimensional stability are required.
PETG provides higher impact resistance and less brittleness than many acrylics while maintaining clarity close to acrylic and strength approaching polycarbonate. This filament formulation has improved melting characteristics for high-speed printing, enabling reliable extrusion at elevated feed rates. It exhibits low shrinkage for predictable large-surface prints, good layer adhesion for mechanically demanding parts and chemical resistance for use in environments exposed to common household chemicals. The material is recyclable and prints well on common build surfaces such as acrylic, glass and Kapton.
Load the 1.75 mm PETG filament into any compatible FDM/FFF printer following the printer manufacturer's filament loading procedure. Use a heated bed and set print temperature and bed temperature according to your printer and hotend recommendations for PETG (consult your printer or slicer profiles). Ensure good first-layer adhesion using a clean build surface such as glass, acrylic or Kapton tape. Adjust print speed and retraction settings for high-speed modes; the filament's improved melting behaviour supports higher feed rates but requires calibration to avoid stringing and ensure consistent extrusion.
Start with manufacturer-recommended temperature ranges for PETG and run calibration towers when switching to high-speed profiles. Use moderate retraction and slightly higher extrusion temperatures to take advantage of the improved melt flow. Allow parts to cool gradually to minimise internal stresses and verify chemical compatibility before prolonged exposure to aggressive solvents.
