GEMBIRD 3DP-PLA-SK-01-RP is a 1 kg spool of PLA filament with a 1.75 mm diameter engineered for fused filament fabrication (FFF/FDM) 3D printers. This dual-colour Purple/Red PLA offers the ease of printing associated with polylactic acid and is compatible with a wide range of desktop printers. With a filament density of 1210 kg/m³, the material is suitable for general-purpose modelling, rapid prototyping and hobby projects that require good surface finish and reliable dimensional stability.
The filament combines the low-warping, low-odor and easy-printing characteristics of PLA with a dual-colour effect that can enhance visual contrast in finished parts. Its 1.75 mm diameter ensures stable feeding in most consumer-grade extruders, while the 1 kg spool provides a practical balance between print volume and storage. The material is biodegradable under industrial composting conditions and prints at common PLA temperature ranges, allowing use without specialised tools or enclosures.
Load the 1.75 mm filament into a compatible FFF/FDM 3D printer following the printer manufacturer’s filament loading procedure. Typical print temperatures for PLA should be used; adjust nozzle temperature and print speed according to your specific printer and desired surface quality. Ensure the spool can rotate freely during printing to avoid tangles and maintain consistent extrusion. Store unused filament in a dry environment, preferably sealed with desiccant, to preserve printing performance.
For best results, start with common PLA settings (nozzle 190–220°C, heated bed 20–60°C or unheated depending on your setup). Use moderate print speeds and enable cooling fans to improve surface detail. When printing detailed or thin-walled parts, reduce layer height and slow the print speed to avoid stringing. Keep filament dry and avoid prolonged exposure to humidity to maintain dimensional consistency and adhesion.
