3D printing material Gembird 3DP-PLA1.75-02-CARBON
Gembird 3DP-PLA1.75-02-CARBON is a black PLA filament reinforced with high-modulus carbon fiber, supplied as an 800 g spool. The material offers increased stiffness and surface texture while remaining compatible with standard PLA printing settings. It is RoHS certified and designed for use with compatible FDM 3D printers, including those from 3D Systems.
The addition of high-modulus carbon fiber provides excellent stiffness and higher tensile strength compared with standard PLA, while maintaining low shrinkage during cooling. The filament produces parts with a distinct textured finish and improved dimensional stability, suitable for functional prototypes and end-use components where rigidity and surface detail are important.
Load the filament onto a PLA-compatible FDM 3D printer and use standard PLA print settings as a starting point. Adjust print temperature, bed temperature and print speed as needed to account for the carbon reinforcement—moderately higher nozzle temperature and reduced print speed can improve layer adhesion. Use a hardened steel or coated nozzle if printing frequently with carbon-filled filament to reduce wear.
Store the filament in a dry environment and use a sealed bag with desiccant to prevent moisture absorption. For best results, calibrate extrusion and retraction settings before printing critical parts and monitor first layers to ensure proper bed adhesion.
