Gembird 3DP-PVA-01-NAT PVA Natural 1 kg 1.75 mm is a water-soluble support filament designed for dual-extrusion and multi-material 3D printing workflows. The filament has a nominal diameter of 1.75 mm and comes in a 1 kg spool of natural-coloured polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). It is formulated to dissolve cleanly in water, enabling reliable removal of support structures for complex geometries and internal cavities without mechanical post-processing.
This PVA filament provides effective water solubility and good adhesion to common build materials, making support removal straightforward and precise. Its uniform 1.75 mm diameter and consistent spool winding reduce print interruptions and feeding issues. Being compatible with any brand of 3D printer that supports PVA and 1.75 mm filament, it fits into a wide range of dual-extrusion and multi-material setups. The natural colour allows easy visual contrast against many printing materials while minimizing dye additives.
Load the filament into the printer’s support extruder or designate it in the slicer as the support material for dual-extrusion prints. Set printing temperatures and speeds according to the primary material manufacturer’s recommendations for PVA support use; common settings require lower extrusion temperatures than many model materials and reduced fan cooling to maintain adhesion. After printing, remove the print from the build plate and immerse the model in water at room temperature or slightly warm water to accelerate dissolution. Gently agitate or use running water until support structures have dissolved; allow longer dissolution time for dense or enclosed supports.
Store the filament in a dry, resealable container with desiccant to prevent moisture absorption. Use PVA with a model material that adheres well to PVA (for example, PLA or PETG variants designed for multi-material printing). Avoid prolonged exposure to humidity before use, purge the nozzle when switching between materials, and test small calibration prints to fine-tune temperature and flow settings for optimal results.
