Godox DP400III photo studio flash unit 400 Ws 1/2000 s Black
The Godox DP400III is a 400 Ws studio monolight designed for portrait, fashion, wedding and product photography. It provides a daylight-balanced color temperature of 5600 K, fast recycling and short flash durations down to 1/2000 s, making it suitable for freezing fast motion while retaining accurate color and consistent output.
The unit offers 400 Ws maximum power with 61 stepped power levels from 1/64 to full, a 150 W modeling lamp with adjustable intensity, and a fast recycle time of approximately 1 second at full power. Built-in 2.4 GHz Godox System X wireless control supports up to 16 groups and 32 channels plus 99 wireless ID settings to reduce interference. The head uses a Bowens mount for compatibility with a wide range of modifiers and has a clear LCD for straightforward operation. Flash settings are retained after a restart for reliable workflow.
The DP400III is a monolight intended for studio or controlled-location work; it requires mains power and is not battery-powered, so it is not ideal for fully location-based shoots without access to AC power. Photographers needing ultra-high-speed sync beyond the specified flash duration range should verify compatibility with their camera and triggering system.
Mount the DP400III on a stable light stand and attach the desired Bowens-compatible modifier. Connect the unit to mains power and switch it on. Use the LCD controls to set power level, modelling lamp intensity and wireless group/channel. Pair with a compatible Godox trigger or use the built-in receiver to fire the flash within the System X network. Adjust power and modelling lamp to preview the exposure and fine-tune output before shooting.
For studio portrait and product work, start with medium power settings (around 1/4–1/8) and adjust the 150 W modeling lamp to preview shadows and catchlights; increase power for larger modifiers or when freezing action at higher shutter speeds.
