Solder Wire GOOBAY Lead-Free 1.0 mm, 250 g spool
GOOBAY Lead-Free Solder Wire 1.0 mm on a 250 g spool is a tin-based solder alloy formulated for general electronics and electrical soldering. The wire contains 99% tin, 0.3% silver and 0.7% copper, with an integrated flux core (2.5%) to facilitate wetting and reliable joints. With a melting point of approximately 217°C and a 1.0 mm diameter, this spool suits both hobby and professional circuit board work and is compatible with standard soldering irons and soldering stations.
The lead-free composition reduces exposure to lead while maintaining good electrical conductivity and mechanical strength due to the silver and copper content. The built-in flux core streamlines the soldering process by promoting faster wetting and cleaner joints, minimizing the need for additional flux application. A 250 g spool provides a continuous supply of solder for component assembly, repairs or repetitive tasks without frequent changes.
Set the soldering iron to an appropriate temperature slightly above the melting point (typically around 320–350°C for through-hole and general electronics work depending on the joint size and flux activity). Clean the component leads and pads, apply heat to the joint and feed the solder wire to the heated area until a smooth fillet forms. The integrated flux core assists in cleaning oxides; after soldering, remove any visible residue if required by the circuit sensitivity or manufacturer guidelines.
Use adequate ventilation or local fume extraction when soldering to avoid inhaling flux fumes. For delicate SMD work, consider reducing iron temperature and using a fine tip to prevent heat damage. Store the spool in a dry place to maintain flux effectiveness and prevent oxidation of the wire.
