Current Transformer Gossen SC50-E Black 1 A
The Gossen SC50-E Black 1 A split-core current transformer is designed for installation in tight or hard-to-reach locations where opening the current path is impractical. With a compact housing (66.2 mm × 66 mm × 97 mm) and a primary opening diameter suitable for cables up to 42 mm, this transformer provides a 1 A secondary output for accurate current measurement in medium- to high-voltage systems (nominal input range up to 720–3000 V). The unit is CE and RoHS certified and has insulation class E (120°C).
The split-core design allows attachment without interrupting the conductor, simplifying retrofitting and maintenance. The transformer is engineered for safe primary cable placement and produces an audible click when closed to confirm correct locking. Two UV-resistant cable ties are included for additional mechanical securing. Electrical ratings include continuous thermal current 100% Icth, short-time thermal rating 60 × IN for 1 second, a maximum operating voltage Um of 0.72 kV, and rated frequency 50–60 Hz.
Open the split-core housing, position the primary cable or busbar centrally within the opening, and close the housing until an audible click confirms secure latching. Use the supplied UV-resistant cable ties to fasten the transformer to the cable or support structure to prevent movement. Connect the 1 A secondary output to the measuring instrument or protection relay following the instrument manufacturer’s wiring polarity and grounding instructions. Ensure the installation is de-energized if required by local safety rules before handling.
For reliable measurement results and safe operation, verify that the primary conductor fits within the 42 mm diameter and that the system voltage and frequency are within the specified limits. Avoid exposing the transformer to temperatures above the insulation-class rating and secure the unit firmly with the supplied ties. Follow applicable electrical installation regulations and instrument input requirements when connecting the secondary circuit.
