Gateway Grandstream Networks GXW-4224
The Grandstream GXW-4224 is a VoIP gateway that provides 24 FXS analog ports to connect analog phones, fax machines and PBX systems to an IP network. It supports common voice and fax codecs and offers a 50‑pin Telco interface plus 24 RJ11 FXS ports for flexible deployment in small and medium business environments. The device is SIP‑compliant and supports Gigabit Ethernet for reliable network connectivity.
The GXW‑4224 delivers high‑density analog trunking with support for industry standard voice codecs (including G.711, G.723, G.726 and G.729), AES‑based security and multiple Ethernet speeds (10/100/1000 Mbps). Its combination of 24 FXS ports and a 50‑pin Telco connection enables integration with existing analog equipment while preserving voice quality and providing centralized provisioning and dialing plan control.
Install the GXW‑4224 in the network rack and connect its LAN port to your network switch using a Cat5e/6 cable. Connect analog phones, fax machines or a PBX to the unit's RJ11 FXS ports or the 50‑pin Telco connector as required. Configure SIP account(s), codec preferences and dialing plan through the web management interface or centralized provisioning server. Verify network settings and QoS to ensure stable voice quality.
For reliable performance, place the gateway on a managed network with QoS enabled, keep firmware updated, and use AES encryption for voice sessions when available. When deploying fax over IP, test fax compatibility with your equipment and choose appropriate codecs and T.38 support if required.
