VoIP telephone adapter Grandstream HT841 voice codecs G.711 G.723.1 G.726 G.729A G.729B
The Grandstream HT841 VoIP telephone adapter provides a compact, easy-to-deploy gateway between traditional PSTN lines and IP-based phone systems. It supports multiple voice codecs (G.711, G.723.1, G.726, G.729A, G.729B), fax over T.38, and includes LED status indicators for LAN, WAN and power. Security features include AES encryption, HTTPS, SIPS and SSL/TLS. The device is designed to connect analog phones or PBX trunks to hosted or on-premise IP PBX networks, enabling seamless integration of existing telephony into VoIP environments.
The HT841 combines FXO/FXS gateway functionality with broad codec support to ensure interoperability and good voice quality across networks. Automated provisioning options simplify deployment across multiple locations, while built-in security protocols protect signaling and media. Compact dimensions make it suitable for desk- or rack-adjacent installation without occupying much space.
Connect the HT841 to your network via the WAN/LAN Ethernet ports and attach the analog phone or PSTN trunk to the appropriate FXS/FXO port. Use the web-based configuration interface or supported provisioning server to enter SIP account details and choose preferred codecs. Enable T.38 for fax devices if required. Verify LED indicators to confirm network and power status, then perform test calls to confirm audio paths and codec negotiation.
For best voice quality, prioritize lower-latency codecs supported by your network and ensure QoS is configured on routers and switches. Use secure transport (SIPS/HTTPS) for provisioning and signaling when connecting to remote or hosted IP PBX providers. Enable T.38 for reliable fax transmissions and keep firmware updated to maintain interoperability and security.
