Hama UV Filter 390 62mm Camera Lens Protector

The Hama UV Filter 390 62mm Camera Lens Protector is an essential optical accessory designed to safeguard your valuable camera lens while improving overall outdoor photography results. Featuring a 62 mm filter size and a durable black frame, this filter effectively blocks ultraviolet rays up to 390 nm, reducing unwanted haze and preventing blurriness in distant landscapes. It serves as a reliable physical shield against everyday hazards such as dust, moisture, scratches, and fingerprints, ensuring your front lens element remains pristine over years of heavy use.

Advantages

This UV filter offers significant protection for your camera gear without compromising the optical integrity of your images. Because the glass is colour-neutral, it does not alter the natural colour balance or saturation of your shots, making it suitable for both colour and black-and-white photography. By absorbing UV light that is often invisible to the human eye but can cause a bluish cast in bright daylight, the filter helps deliver clearer, sharper, and more defined photographs. Additionally, keeping the filter permanently attached to your lens minimizes the frequency of cleaning the primary glass element, reducing the risk of accidental damage during maintenance.

Suitable for

• Outdoor photography in bright daylight and high-altitude environments
• Landscape and nature shooting where distant haze is a common issue
• Daily lens protection against dust, dirt, and accidental scratches
• General travel and street photography in varying weather conditions

When it may not be suitable

This filter may not be necessary if you are exclusively shooting indoors or in controlled studio environments where UV light and atmospheric haze are absent. Furthermore, stacked filters or very thick frames might cause vignetting on certain wide-angle lenses, so users working with specialized ultra-wide optics should verify clearance before extended use.

Key specifications

• Filter size: 62 mm
• Frame colour: Black
• Glass quality standard: Standard
• UV protection threshold: Up to 390 nm
• Optical impact: Colour-neutral, blocks haze, avoids unsharpness
• Lens protection: Guards against scratches, dust, and finger-marks

How to use

To use the Hama UV Filter 390, gently screw the 62 mm thread clockwise onto the front filter threads of your compatible camera lens until it is securely fastened. Do not overtighten, as this can make removal difficult. Once attached, you can mount your lens cap directly onto the front thread of the filter. Keep the filter clean by using a specialized microfibre cloth and lens cleaning solution to remove dust or smudges whenever necessary.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify that your camera lens has a 62 mm filter thread diameter before buying.
• Assess your shooting environment to ensure you will benefit from outdoor UV filtration.
• Check if your lens hood is still fully compatible when the filter is attached.

Usage recommendations

For optimal image quality and continuous protection, leave the Hama UV Filter 390 mounted on your camera lens during all outdoor photo sessions, and clean the glass surface only when necessary using approved optical cleaning tools.
