Hoya HD Mk II CIR-PL 52 mm is a circular polarizing camera filter designed to reduce reflections, improve color saturation and increase contrast for clearer landscape and general photography. The filter combines a high-transparency polarizing film with a 16-layer anti-reflective coating and a water- and oil-repellent surface to maintain image quality and simplify cleaning.
The filter uses an HD high-transmittance polarizing film that allows approximately 25% better light transmission than standard polarizers, providing nearly half a stop more light while preserving polarization effects and color balance. A 16-layer anti-reflective multi-coating on both sides minimizes internal reflections and the hydrophobic, oleophobic and stain-resistant finish makes maintenance straightforward.
Attach the 52 mm Hoya HD Mk II CIR-PL to the front thread of your lens and rotate the filter ring while observing the scene through the viewfinder or live view. Adjust rotation until the desired reduction of reflections or increase in color saturation is achieved. Because it is a circular polarizer, autofocus and exposure metering remain compatible with most cameras.
For best results, use the polarizer at a 90-degree angle to the sun to maximize sky darkening and color saturation. Avoid stacking thick filters on wide-angle lenses to reduce the risk of vignetting; clean the coated surfaces with a soft microfiber cloth and appropriate cleaner to preserve the hydrophobic and oleophobic properties.
