Neutral density camera filter Hoya PROND EX 1000 49 mm
The Hoya PROND EX 1000 49 mm neutral density filter reduces the amount of light entering the lens to enable very long exposures and greater control over depth of field. Designed for landscape photographers and videographers who need deep light reduction, this 49 mm black filter is part of Hoya's PROND EX series and uses optical glass in a lightweight aluminum frame with front filter threads for stacking or a lens cap.
PROND EX 1000 features HOYA's ACCU-ND technology to ensure balanced attenuation across visible and infrared spectra, minimising color shift that can occur with lower-quality ND filters. The filter's clear optical glass and precision aluminium frame provide consistent image quality, reliable light reduction equivalent to ND1000, and compatibility with additional filters via front threads.
Screw the 49 mm PROND EX 1000 onto a lens with a 49 mm filter thread. For long-exposure stills, set a small aperture and use a tripod to stabilise the camera before opening the shutter for the desired duration. For video, apply the filter to reduce light so you can set shutter speed appropriate to frame rate while keeping the preferred aperture for depth of field. When greater attenuation is required, combine PROND EX 1000 with other PROND EX filters by stacking via the front threads.
Use a sturdy tripod for exposures of many seconds; check results on the camera histogram to avoid under- or overexposure. When stacking filters, verify no vignetting occurs on wide-angle lenses and remove the filter for low-light shooting to avoid unnecessary light loss.
