Neutral density camera filter Hoya NDx4 62mm
The Hoya NDx4 62mm Neutral Density Filter reduces incoming light by 2 stops, enabling greater control over exposure and depth of field in bright conditions. Made from optical glass with a durable black and grey finish, this 62mm ND filter is suitable for stills and cine/video cameras and helps prevent overexposure when shooting in intense light such as snow, sand or direct sunlight.
The NDx4 filter attenuates light without changing colour balance, allowing longer shutter speeds or wider apertures while preserving image colours. It is useful for achieving motion blur, separating subjects from backgrounds through shallower depth of field, and for reducing effective film/ISO sensitivity in very bright situations. The filter is compatible with cameras that have fixed shutter speeds, helping to avoid overexposure in video and cine shooting.
Screw the Hoya NDx4 62mm filter onto a compatible 62 mm lens thread before composing the shot. For long exposures, set a smaller aperture or lower shutter speed as required by your creative intent and adjust exposure compensation if needed. When shooting video on cameras with fixed shutter speeds, attach the filter to avoid overexposure in very bright scenes. Remove or replace the filter when light conditions change to maintain correct exposure.
For best results, check exposure with a light meter or camera histogram after mounting the filter and use a tripod for long exposures to avoid camera shake. Keep the filter clean and store it in a protective case to maintain optical quality.
