Neutral density camera filter Hoya PROND4 55 mm
The Hoya PROND4 55 mm neutral density camera filter reduces incoming light by 2 stops (ND 0.6) while maintaining a neutral color balance. Made from Hoya clear optical glass with Metallic ACCU‑ND coating on both sides and mounted in a durable black frame, this filter is intended for still photography and HDSLR video where consistent color neutrality is required across different densities.
The ACCU‑ND technology and Metallic ACCU‑ND coatings provide a consistent, neutral color balance with minimal color cast when compared to many other neutral density filters. The coating is applied front and back to preserve image quality, and the filter’s 2‑stop light reduction allows use of wider apertures or slower shutter speeds in bright conditions without altering color rendition.
Screw the 55 mm Hoya PROND4 filter onto the front of a lens with a matching filter thread. Set exposure and white balance as usual; the filter reduces light by 2 stops, allowing either a wider aperture or a slower shutter speed for creative control. If you change to a different PROND density, you can keep the same white balance setting thanks to the ACCU‑ND coating.
For best results, use the PROND4 with lenses that accept 55 mm filters and set white balance once when shooting a sequence. Clean the glass with a lens cloth and appropriate cleaning solution to avoid scratches and maintain coating performance.
