Compact film camera Ilford Sprite 35-II 35 mm ISO 200-800
Compact film camera Ilford Sprite 35-II 35 mm ISO 200-800
The Ilford Sprite 35-II is a compact 35 mm film camera designed for straightforward, reusable analogue photography. With a fixed-focus 31 mm single-element lens and a fixed shutter speed of 1/120 s, the camera is intended for daylight snapshots and simple low-light shots using the built-in flash. Lightweight and pocketable, it accepts 35 mm colour negative or black-and-white film with an ISO range commonly used between 200 and 800, and uses a manual film advance and rewind mechanism.
The Sprite 35-II offers a no-frills, easy-to-use experience that suits beginners and casual photographers: a simple load-and-shoot workflow, fixed settings that remove the need to adjust aperture or shutter speed, and a reusable body that reduces waste compared with disposables. Its built-in flash with approximately 15 seconds recycle time enables nighttime snapshots, while the compact 119 × 67 × 44 mm body and 122 g weight make it highly portable.
Load a 35 mm film cartridge into the camera back, thread the film leader onto the take-up spool, close the back and advance the film using the manual winding lever until the frame counter or indicator shows the first frame. Compose your shot and press the shutter release; advance the film after each exposure. Use ISO 200–800 films for best results with the fixed f/9 aperture and 1/120 s shutter speed. For low-light or night shots, enable the built-in flash and allow approximately 15 seconds between flashes for recycling. When the roll is finished, rewind the film fully before opening the back to remove the cartridge.
For consistent daylight results choose films rated around ISO 200–400 and keep subjects at or beyond the 1 m focus distance; switch to ISO 800 for dimmer conditions and rely on the built-in flash for short-range night shots.
