Compact film camera Ilford Sprite 35-II 35 mm ISO 200-800 Red Silver
The Ilford Sprite 35-II is a compact 35 mm film camera that offers a simple, no-frills way to shoot analogue photographs. Built as a modern continuation of the original Sprite 35, it accepts standard 35 mm colour negative or black-and-white film and is designed for users who prefer straightforward operation and a lightweight, reusable camera. The camera has a fixed 31 mm single-element wide-angle lens at f/9, a fixed shutter speed of 1/120 s, and supports film speeds typically used between ISO 200 and ISO 800. It includes a built-in flash with approximately 15 seconds recycle time and a manual film advance lever with rewind.
The Sprite 35-II requires no knowledge of shutter speeds or aperture to operate: load film, aim and press the shutter. Its fixed-focus 31 mm wide-angle lens and 1/120 s shutter produce well-focused daylight shots without adjustments, while the built-in flash enables night or low-light snapshots. Being reusable and lightweight (122 g) it is an economical alternative to disposables and produces the characteristic look of 35 mm film.
Open the back and load a standard 35 mm film cartridge, then close and advance the film using the manual film advance lever until the frame counter shows the first exposure. Compose the scene, keep subjects at least 1 m from the camera for sharp focus, and press the shutter to take a photo. Use the built-in flash for low-light or night shots, allowing about 15 seconds for the flash to recharge between full-power flashes. When the roll is finished, rewind the film fully before opening the back to remove the cartridge.
The Ilford Sprite 35-II is best used with daylight or well-lit scenes for optimal sharpness due to its fixed f/9 aperture and fixed shutter speed; choose ISO 200–400 film for general daylight use and ISO 800 for lower-light conditions. For close subjects, keep at least 1 m distance or consider framing wider scenes to maintain focus.
