Network Card Intel X550T2BLK
The Intel X550T2BLK is a high-performance internal Ethernet network card supporting up to 10000 Mbit/s via a PCI Express host interface. Designed for wired connectivity in data centers and enterprise systems, the card implements SR-IOV, VMDq and Flexible Port Partitioning (FPP) technologies to provide efficient hardware-assisted I/O virtualization and improved throughput with low latency.
The card’s SR-IOV support enables a single physical Ethernet port to present multiple virtual functions, reducing CPU overhead for virtual machines. VMDq offloads switching tasks from the hypervisor to the network hardware, decreasing I/O switching overhead and improving system performance. FPP uses industry-standard SR-IOV to partition the physical port into multiple virtual devices and helps enforce fair bandwidth allocation among virtual functions.
Install the Intel X550T2BLK into an available PCI Express slot on a compatible server or workstation following the host system’s hardware installation procedures. Configure the operating system network drivers provided by Intel and enable virtualization features (SR-IOV, VMDq) in the system BIOS/firmware and hypervisor as required. Create and map virtual functions to guest virtual machines using the hypervisor’s networking configuration tools.
Enable SR-IOV and VMDq in firmware and the hypervisor to fully utilize hardware-assisted I/O virtualization. Use FPP to partition bandwidth for predictable QoS in multi-tenant environments and ensure drivers and firmware are kept up to date for best performance.
