Intel X710-DA2 Internal Fiber 40000 Mbit/s PCI Express Wired
The Intel X710-DA2 Internal Fiber 40000 Mbit/s PCI Express Wired is a server-class network adapter designed for high-throughput, low-latency fiber connectivity. It supports a 40 Gbit/s maximum data transfer rate over fiber with a PCI Express host interface, and implements technologies such as Intel Data Direct I/O (DDIO), Ethernet Power Management, and Single-Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) to improve I/O efficiency, reduce idle power, and enable direct device sharing among virtual machines.
This Intel X710-DA2 card reduces latency and increases I/O bandwidth by allowing Ethernet controllers to communicate directly with processor cache via Intel DDIO, lowering system memory traffic. Built-in Ethernet Power Management features reduce idle power and scale energy use with demand, improving operational efficiency. Support for SR-IOV enables a single physical port to present multiple virtual functions for direct assignment to guest VMs, simplifying virtualization and improving throughput.
Install the Intel X710-DA2 into an available PCI Express slot on a compatible server motherboard following the server and card installation instructions. Connect fiber transceivers and fiber cabling to the card's fiber ports rated for 40 Gbit/s operation. Enable or configure Intel DDIO, Ethernet Power Management, and SR-IOV in server firmware and operating system drivers as needed to take advantage of low-latency data paths, power-saving features, and virtual function assignment.
Use certified fiber transceivers and quality fiber cabling rated for 40 Gbit/s to achieve the specified throughput. Keep server firmware and NIC drivers up to date and configure SR-IOV only when the hypervisor and guest OS support direct assignment. Monitor power and performance settings to balance energy efficiency and throughput.
