iWARP delivers converged, low-latency fabric services for data centers by enabling Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) over Ethernet. Key elements that reduce latency include Kernel Bypass, Direct Data Placement, and Transport Acceleration. Intel® Data Direct I/O (DDIO) improves I/O processing efficiency by allowing server adapters and controllers to interact directly with processor cache instead of system memory, lowering latency and increasing I/O bandwidth. The adapter supports PCI-SIG SR-IOV for native sharing of a single physical I/O resource among multiple virtual machines and includes Intel® Ethernet Power Management features to reduce idle power and improve energy efficiency. Flexible Port Partitioning (FPP) uses SR-IOV to split a physical Ethernet device into multiple virtual devices to provide fair bandwidth allocation, and Virtual Machine Device Queues (VMDq) offload VMM switching to networking hardware to reduce overhead and improve throughput.
