Ethernet Card Intel X710-T2L 10000 Mbit/s PCI Express Wired
The Intel X710-T2L is a wired PCI Express Ethernet card that provides up to 10,000 Mbit/s connectivity for servers and workstations. Designed for data‑center and virtualization environments, the adapter supports RDMA over Ethernet (iWARP) and includes Intel® Data Direct I/O Technology to improve I/O efficiency by enabling direct processor cache access. The card is built with virtualization and partitioning features such as PCI-SIG SR-IOV, Flexible Port Partitioning and Virtual Machine Device Queues (VMDq) to optimize throughput and resource sharing.
The adapter reduces latency and increases I/O bandwidth through iWARP (RDMA over Ethernet) and Intel DDIO, enabling more efficient data delivery between I/O devices and the processor. Hardware-assisted virtualization features (SR-IOV, FPP, VMDq) allow a single physical port to be securely and efficiently divided into multiple virtual functions, improving bandwidth allocation and lowering hypervisor overhead. The card’s PCI Express host interface and 10,000 Mbit/s rated link make it suitable for high-throughput wired network deployments.
Install the Intel X710-T2L into an available PCI Express slot on a compatible server or workstation following the system manufacturer’s instructions. Connect the card to a wired Ethernet network using appropriate cabling and configure the operating system network drivers supplied by Intel or the system vendor. For RDMA and DDIO features, enable the corresponding driver settings and firmware options as required by the host OS and NIC firmware. Configure virtualization features (SR‑IOV, FPP, VMDq) in the hypervisor and assign Virtual Functions to virtual machines according to workload needs.
Use Cat6a or better cabling and compatible switches when deploying at 10 Gbit/s to ensure full link performance. Keep firmware and drivers up to date and follow vendor guidelines when enabling RDMA and virtualization features to achieve optimal latency and throughput.
