Flexible Port Partitioning (FPP) uses PCI SIG SR-IOV standards to partition a physical Ethernet port into multiple virtual devices, allowing each process or virtual instance to receive a dedicated Virtual Function and a fair share of available bandwidth. Single-Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) enables direct sharing of a single I/O resource among multiple virtual machines so that one physical Ethernet port can present several separate virtual devices for workloads and network traffic segregation.
