Network Card IOGEAR GWU637
The IOGEAR GWU637 Network Card converts a wired Ethernet connection into a Wi‑Fi link, enabling Ethernet-only devices to join a wireless network. Compact and USB-powered, this adapter is intended for devices such as HDTVs, game consoles, Blu‑ray players, legacy laptops, A/V receivers and network printers that lack built-in Wi‑Fi. It uses 802.11n (Wi‑Fi 4) technology and supports data rates up to 300 Mbit/s.
The GWU637 provides wireless capability to devices with an Ethernet port without the need to open or modify the device. Its dual-antenna 2T2R design delivers increased throughput up to 300 Mbit/s, improving streaming, online gaming and large file transfers compared with earlier Wireless‑N adapters. The unit is 40% smaller than previous models and draws power from a Micro‑USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power outlet. Security support includes WEP, WPA, WPA2, TKIP and AES, and WPS simplifies network setup.
Connect the GWU637 to the Ethernet port of the target device using a standard Ethernet cable. Power the adapter from a Micro‑USB port using the included USB power cable. Use the device's network settings or the adapter's WPS button to join the local Wi‑Fi network; if using WPS, press the WPS button on your router and the adapter to connect automatically. For manual setup, follow the on‑screen network configuration on the connected device and select the appropriate SSID and security credentials.
Place the adapter where it has clear line of sight to the Wi‑Fi router when possible and use the included Micro‑USB cable for reliable power. For bandwidth‑intensive applications (HD video, online gaming), ensure the router supports 802.11n and that the adapter firmware is up to date.
