Cinema lens Irix 30mm T1.5 for MILC Black 0.34m closest focus
Irix Cine 30mm T1.5 is a full-frame cinema lens designed for MILC cameras with sensor resolutions up to 8K. With a closest focus of 0.34 m and a fast T1.5 aperture, it is suitable for interviews and medium wide shots, and on crop sensors provides an effective focal length near 45mm (1.5×). The lens is built to work with many systems and is available in popular mounts including Sony E. It features a magnetic mounting system (MMS), geared Mod 0.8 M rings, a 95 mm front filter thread, and a detachable lens support foot for stable operation.
The Irix Cine 30mm offers a robust, weather-resistant construction that protects against rain, sand and dust and includes UV-reactive engraved markings for improved visibility in difficult lighting. Its modern optical design minimizes distortions and aberrations while an internal focusing system and an 11-blade iris produce sharp images and smooth, pleasing bokeh from T1.5 to T16. Low focus breathing and a field of view close to human vision make this lens well suited for natural-looking footage. Uniform dimensions and weight across Irix Cine lenses simplify lens changes and gimbal balancing.
Mount the Irix Cine 30mm on your MILC camera using the appropriate mount variant (Sony E or other offered mounts). Use the internal focus mechanism for precise focusing and adjust the 11-blade iris to set exposure and depth of field between T1.5 and T16. Attach Irix Edge MMS filters or the MMS lens hood if needed; the magnetic system allows quick attachment and stacking of filters. For best stability when using follow focus gears, attach the included detachable lens support foot and check balance on gimbals before recording.
For natural-looking scenes, keep apertures wide (around T1.5–T4) to benefit from low focus breathing and smooth bokeh; when shooting in harsh lighting, use the MMS lens hood and magnetic filters to reduce flares. Verify your camera’s balance on the specific gimbal model and use the lens support foot to reduce strain on the camera mount.
