Drill bit Irwin 10501955 twist drill bit 6 mm, 1 pc
Irwin 10501955 is a 6 mm twist drill bit designed for use with SDS rotary hammers. Supplied as a single piece, this drill bit features a patented extra-short carbide tip and a new single-flute geometry that together deliver faster, cleaner drilling in concrete and masonry. The hardened brazed carbide tip and optimized flute shape are intended to improve dust removal, maintain centring, and extend bit life under standard drilling conditions.
The patented extra-short carbide tip takes the majority of the workload, increasing durability and cutting speed while the concave cutting angles make penetration more aggressive for faster progress. Brazing of the tip at high temperature provides heat resistance and a reliable bond for longer service life. The new single-flute design offers greater waste removal capacity and reduces clogging by clearing dust into the flute. Overall, these features enable up to 20% faster drilling compared with conventional designs while preserving consistent durability. The SDS shank fits compatible rotary hammers for straightforward tool integration.
Insert the bit securely into the SDS chuck of a compatible rotary hammer and ensure the tool is set to hammer-drill mode when working in concrete or masonry. Mark the drilling position, start at low speed to allow the self‑centering tip to locate, then apply steady pressure while maintaining tool alignment. Periodically withdraw the bit from the hole to clear accumulated dust and allow the single flute to evacuate debris. For continuous large-depth drilling, pause to inspect the bit and let it cool if necessary.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection, hearing protection and dust mask. Do not force the bit; let the tool and the extra-short carbide tip do the work. Use the bit only in materials listed (concrete, masonry) and ensure the rotary hammer and SDS chuck are in good condition. Replace the bit if the carbide tip shows significant wear or damage to maintain drilling accuracy and safety.
