Irwin drill bit set 10 pcs, model 10502286, 5.5 mm diameter
Irwin drill bit set 10 pcs, 5.5 mm diameter is a general-purpose collection of ground-quality twist drills designed for producing consistent 5.5 mm holes. Manufactured to DIN 338 standards, each 5.5 mm bit features a cylindrical shank and a universal 118° point shape for reliable centring and versatile performance across a range of common materials. The set is supplied in a Quadro Pack for organised storage and easy access on job sites or in workshops.
The bits have precision-ground cutting edges and a ground flute profile to ensure fast drilling, accurate hole size, and efficient chip removal. The universal 118° point reduces walking at drill start and improves entry into plastics, soft metals and wood. Cylindrical shanks provide compatibility with standard chucks, while manufacture to DIN 338 quality means consistent geometry and long service life under normal working conditions.
Select a drill with a compatible chuck and secure a single 5.5 mm bit by tightening the cylindrical shank in the chuck. Mark the drilling position and, if required, use a centre punch for more precise starts in metal or hard surfaces. Start drilling at low speed to establish the hole, then increase speed appropriate to the material while applying steady, even pressure. Withdraw periodically to clear chips when drilling deeper holes. After use, clean chips from the flute and store the bits in their Quadro Pack to protect the cutting edges.
Use cutting lubricant when drilling metals to extend bit life and maintain finish quality. Match drill speed to material: lower speeds for metals, medium to higher speeds for plastics and wood. Replace bits that show significant wear, chipping or loss of cutting geometry to maintain hole accuracy and safety.
