Drill bit set Irwin 10502316 — 5 pieces, drill bit diameter 8.5 mm
Drill bit set Irwin 10502316 — 5 pieces, drill bit diameter 8.5 mm
Irwin 10502316 — set of five 8.5 mm drill bits designed for general-purpose drilling tasks. Each bit is precision ground and manufactured to DIN 338 standards, featuring a 118° universal point and ground flute geometry to ensure accurate centring, fast chip evacuation and clean hole finishes. The bits have cylindrical shanks for secure fitment in standard chucks and come in compact Quadro packaging that keeps the set organized and protected during storage and transport.
The set combines ground quality cutting edges and a ground flute design to provide faster drilling and improved hole quality compared with non-ground bits. The universal 118° point shape reduces walking at the start of drilling and supports work across a range of materials. Manufactured to DIN 338 standards, these bits offer consistent geometry and durability suitable for routine workshop and site use. Cylindrical shanks ensure compatibility with most drill chucks and ease of replacement.
Select an 8.5 mm capacity chuck on a compatible drill and secure the cylindrical shank firmly. Start drilling at low speed to establish the hole and avoid walking; increase speed as the bit engages the material. Use appropriate feed pressure—steady and moderate—to let the ground cutting edges remove material efficiently. For metals and plastics, apply cutting lubricant when recommended to reduce heat and extend bit life. After use, clear chips from the flutes and store the bits in the original Quadro pack to protect the cutting edges.
For best results, match drill speed and feed to the worked material: lower speeds for metals, higher speeds for wood and plastics. Use cutting fluid when drilling metals, clamp workpieces securely, and avoid excessive side load to prevent premature wear or breakage.
