Drill bit set Irwin 10502380, 3 pieces, 3 mm diameter, HSS
Drill bit set Irwin 10502380, 3 pieces, 3 mm diameter, HSS
Irwin 10502380 is a compact 3-piece drill bit set comprising 3 mm high-speed steel (HSS) twist drills intended for general-purpose drilling. Each bit is ground to DIN 338 standards with precision cutting edges and a universal 118° point shape, making the set suitable for small-diameter holes and pilot drilling in metals, wood and plastics. The cylindrical shanks and ground flutes support stable mounting in hand drills or drill presses and promote accurate chip evacuation for consistent hole finish.
The drill bits are made from high-speed steel with ground quality and precision-ground cutting edges for fast penetration and clean finishes. The universal 118° point reduces walking and provides reliable centring when starting holes. Ground flutes improve chip removal and accuracy, while the cylindrical shank ensures compatibility with standard chucks. Manufactured to DIN 338, the set offers consistent geometry and repeatable drilling performance for small-diameter applications.
Secure the 3 mm HSS drill bit in the chuck of a handheld drill or drill press, ensuring the cylindrical shank is fully seated and the bit is clamped tightly. Mark the drilling position and, where possible, use a centre punch for metal to prevent wandering. Start at low speed to establish the hole, then increase speed as appropriate for the material. Apply steady, moderate pressure and allow the bit to clear chips periodically. For metal drilling, use suitable cutting fluid to reduce heat and extend bit life. Retract the bit occasionally in deeper holes to improve chip evacuation.
Store the drill bits in a dry place and inspect them before use; replace bits that show signs of excessive wear or chipping. Match drilling speed and feed to the material—lower speeds for harder metals, higher speeds for wood and plastics—and use lubrication for steel and soft metal workpieces to improve tool life and hole quality.
