Drill bit Irwin 10502515 twist drill bit 3 mm 10 pcs
Irwin 10502515 is a set of ten 3 mm twist drill bits designed for general and demanding drilling tasks. Each bit is manufactured from high-speed steel with 5% cobalt to provide increased heat and abrasion resistance. The 135° split point design reduces bit walking and starts cutting immediately, while the heavy-duty web construction improves strength and durability for repeated use in standard drilling machines.
The HSS cobalt composition delivers better performance when drilling into tougher and heat-treated metals compared with standard high-speed steel bits. The 135° split point ensures faster centring and reduced need for pilot holes, and the robust web reduces breakage under higher axial loads. Supplied as a 10-piece pack, the set offers convenient spares for maintenance, production or on-site repair work.
Secure the appropriate 3 mm bit in the drill chuck and ensure the workpiece is clamped or otherwise firmly held. Start drilling at low speed to establish the hole, then increase speed as required for the material and drilling conditions. Use cutting fluid when drilling hardened or abrasive alloys to reduce heat and extend bit life. Replace worn or damaged bits promptly to maintain hole accuracy and to avoid excessive loads on the drill.
For best results when drilling hardened steels and abrasive alloys, use a lubricating cutting fluid and moderate feed pressure. Maintain straight alignment of the drill and avoid excessive speed to prevent premature wear. Store bits in a protective case and replace them if the tip becomes rounded or chipped.
