Twist drill bit set Irwin 10502517 — 10 pcs, Ø 3.2 mm
Twist drill bit set Irwin 10502517 — 10 pcs, Ø 3.2 mm
Irwin 10502517 — 10 pcs, Ø 3.2 mm is a set of high-speed steel (HSS) cobalt twist drill bits designed for drilling precise 3.2 mm holes in a range of materials. Each bit has a 3.2 mm diameter and a total length of 65 mm, with a cylindrical shank configured for use in handheld and stationary drills. The bits are produced to DIN 338 standards and include a 5% cobalt alloy to improve heat and abrasion resistance for demanding drilling tasks.
The cobalt-enriched HSS composition provides better performance on hardened and abrasive alloys compared with standard HSS bits, while the heavy-duty web construction increases strength and durability under lateral and axial loads. A 135° split point reduces bit walking and starts cutting immediately, improving accuracy and reducing the need for pilot holes. Supplied as a 10-piece pack, the set offers multiple replacements for repetitive or workshop use.
Select a suitable drill speed and appropriate cutting lubricant for the material being drilled. Secure the workpiece and clamp it to prevent movement. Fit the cylindrical shank into the drill chuck and tighten firmly. Begin drilling with steady pressure; the 135° split point design reduces walking so a pilot hole is often not necessary. Withdraw the bit regularly on deep holes to clear chips and apply coolant or lubricant as required to manage heat build-up and extend tool life.
Use lower speeds and cutting fluid when drilling stainless or hardened steels to reduce heat and wear. Replace worn or damaged bits rather than regrinding beyond the manufacturer's tolerances to maintain performance and safety. Store the set in a protected case to avoid damage and corrosion between uses.
