Drill bit set Irwin 10502532 — twist drill bits, 7 mm diameter, 10 pcs
Irwin 10502532 is a set of ten identical 7 mm twist drill bits designed for removal of material and creation of accurate round holes with standard drilling machines. Manufactured from high-speed steel with 5% cobalt alloy, these HSS cobalt drill bits are made to withstand higher temperatures and increased abrasion compared with ordinary HSS bits. The heavy-duty web construction and a 135° split point improve strength and centring, helping to start holes quickly and reduce bit "walk" when positioning on the workpiece.
The 5% cobalt composition increases heat and wear resistance, making the bits suitable for extended-duty metalworking. A heavy-duty web gives greater durability under load and reduces the risk of breakage during demanding tasks. The 135° split point permits faster penetration and better self-centering, which reduces the need for pilot holes on many materials. Production to DIN 338 standards ensures consistent geometry and reliable cutting performance across the set of ten identical 7 mm bits.
Select the 7 mm Irwin twist drill bit and secure it properly in the drill chuck. Use appropriate cutting speeds and feed rates for the specific metal being drilled, and apply steady pressure while letting the bit cut rather than forcing it. For drilling hard or heat-treated steels, use cutting fluid or coolant to reduce heat buildup and extend bit life. Periodically clear chips from the hole to prevent clogging and ensure a clean drilling action.
For optimal performance and bit life, use moderate spindle speeds appropriate for the material, maintain lubrication when drilling hardened or abrasive alloys, and ensure the drill press or handheld drill is stable and properly aligned. Replace bits that show significant wear, chipping, or loss of point geometry.
