Drill bit Irwin 6 mm Twist drill bit 10502557, 1 pc
Irwin 6 mm Twist drill bit 10502557 is a single-piece HSS cobalt twist bit designed for drilling round holes with handheld or stationary drills. The 6 mm cutting diameter and standard twist flute geometry make it suitable for general-purpose metalworking tasks where a precision hole is required. The bit is manufactured to DIN 338 standards and features a heavy-duty web and a 135° split point to reduce walking and enable immediate penetration.
This HSS cobalt drill bit contains 5% cobalt for improved heat and abrasion resistance, extending tool life during high-speed or heavy-duty drilling. The heavy-duty web construction increases strength and reduces the risk of breakage under side loads. The 135° split point provides fast bite into the material and less tendency to drift, improving accuracy for repeatable hole positioning. Manufactured to DIN 338 standards, the bit offers consistent geometry and performance for professional and hobby use.
Select the appropriate drill speed and feed for the metal you are working with, using lower speeds for harder materials. Secure the workpiece firmly in a vise or clamp to prevent movement. Mark the drilling location and, for improved accuracy, use the split point to start drilling without a pilot hole where applicable. Apply steady pressure and allow the bit to clear chips periodically. Use cutting fluid or lubricant for stainless steel and other heat-sensitive alloys to reduce heat buildup and prolong bit life.
For best performance, use with a drill or press capable of maintaining stable speed and sufficient torque. Apply cutting lubricant when drilling hardened or high-alloy steels, and avoid excessive side loads to reduce the risk of breakage. Replace the bit when wear or chipping degrades hole quality or increases force required.
