Socket bit, JCB deep thin-walled 1/2" 17mm 6-point
Deep thin-walled impact socket by JCB with a 1/2" drive and a 17 mm 6-point opening. Engineered for use with impact wrenches and ratchets, this socket provides access to recessed fasteners and long studs where a conventional socket would not fit. The thin-walled design reduces interference in tight spaces while maintaining the strength required for frequent mechanical and industrial use.
The thin-walled construction allows access to fittings with limited clearance while preserving torsional strength needed for impact applications. A 6-point profile concentrates contact on the flats of fasteners, reducing rounding on bolts and nuts. The deep length reaches recessed nuts and long studs without the need for extensions, and the 1/2" drive ensures compatibility with a wide range of impact tools and ratchets commonly used in automotive and industrial environments.
Select the 17 mm thin-walled socket and attach it securely to a compatible 1/2" drive impact wrench or ratchet. Ensure the tool and socket are rated for impact use before applying power. Position the socket over the fastener, engage the drive, and apply torque in controlled bursts to avoid excessive stress on the fastener. When removing long or recessed fasteners, work steadily and clear debris from the work area to maintain proper seating and alignment.
Use only with impact-rated 1/2" drive tools and avoid using with hand-only torque methods that may damage the thin walls. Inspect the socket for signs of wear or cracking before each use, and replace if any deformation is detected. Apply anti-seize or penetrating lubricant to corroded or seized fasteners when necessary to reduce the required torque and risk of fastener damage.
