Macro Extension Tube Set with Electronic Contacts for Sony E-mount (NEX) — JJC SB4539
The JJC Macro Extension Tube Set with Electronic Contacts for Sony E-mount (NEX) increases the working distance between the lens and the camera sensor to enable closer focusing and higher magnification for macro photography without requiring a dedicated macro lens. The set is designed for Sony E-mount cameras and maintains electrical connections between the camera body and lens so that aperture control, autofocus confirmation, and EXIF data transmission remain available when supported by the lens and camera combination.
The extension tubes provide a simple, lightweight and cost-effective solution to achieve greater magnification for close-up shots of small subjects. Electronic contacts preserve communication between lens and camera, allowing retained aperture operation and autofocus confirmation where compatible. The stackable design lets you combine tubes to vary the extension and control magnification and working distance for different shooting situations.
Attach the selected extension tube or combination of tubes to the camera body, then mount the lens onto the front of the tube. Verify that the electronic contacts are aligned and that the lens and camera recognize each other; this will allow aperture adjustment from the camera and transfer of exposure information. Compose and focus using either the lens focus ring or autofocus if available and effective at the new working distance; manual focus is often required for precise framing at high magnification. Use a tripod or stable support to reduce camera shake, and employ careful lighting because extension tubes reduce light reaching the sensor.
For best results, start with the shortest tube and add more extension as needed to achieve desired magnification. Use manual focus and live view magnification for accurate focus, and consider additional lighting or a flash to compensate for light loss. Be aware that depth of field becomes very shallow at close distances; stop down the aperture and increase shutter speed or ISO as appropriate. Confirm compatibility of specific lenses with extension tubes for autofocus performance.
