Stepper motor Joy-IT NEMA17-03 — 200 steps, 0.2 N·m torque, 5 V DC, 1.2 A, 42×42×27 mm
Joy-IT NEMA17-03 is a NEMA17 stepper motor with 200 full steps per revolution, rated torque up to 0.2 N·m and a nominal DC voltage of 5 V. The motor has a phase current of 1.2 A and an electrical impedance of 4.2 Ω. Its compact rectangular flange and body dimensions of 42×42×27 mm make the unit suitable for installations with limited space and for applications requiring precise, repeatable positioning in CNC machines, 3D printers, robotic drives and general automation projects.
The motor delivers consistent step resolution (200 steps/rev) and a rated holding torque of 0.2 N·m, enabling controlled motion in small- to medium-load mechanisms. Low nominal voltage (5 V) and moderate phase current (1.2 A) allow flexible driver selection and straightforward integration with common stepper drivers. Compact dimensions and low weight reduce mechanical load on mounts and simplify installation in tight enclosures.
Mount the motor to a rigid support using the NEMA17 flange holes and secure it to the drive mechanism via an appropriate shaft coupling. Connect the two motor coils to a compatible bipolar stepper driver rated for at least 1.2 A per phase, set current limits on the driver according to the motor rating, and provide a stable 5 V supply if required by the chosen driver topology. Use microstepping or full-step modes as appropriate for the required resolution and torque. Allow ventilation around the motor during sustained operation to prevent excessive heating.
For best results, pair the stepper with a driver that supports adjustable current limiting and microstepping to optimize torque, smoothness and heat dissipation. When integrating into CNC or 3D printer axes, verify that the mechanical coupling and lead-screw or belt ratio provide the required linear resolution and speed within the motor's torque capabilities.
