35mm black-and-white film Kentmere 400 — 36 exposures, ISO 400
Kentmere 400 is a 35mm black-and-white negative film with 36 exposures and a nominal sensitivity of ISO 400. It is designed for general-purpose photography and performs well in available light and action situations thanks to its medium-high speed, offering a balance between grain, sharpness and tonal range suitable for scanning or darkroom printing.
The film provides a fine grain structure and good sharpness combined with a broad tonal range and wide exposure latitude. Its ISO 400 sensitivity allows flexible shooting in varied lighting conditions and supports standard development processes used for black-and-white negative film.
Load the cartridge into any 35mm film camera according to the camera’s loading instructions. Meter or set exposure for ISO 400, or adjust based on your exposure preferences (push or pull processing requires compensating exposure). Develop the film in standard black-and-white chemistry following manufacturer-recommended times and temperatures for the chosen developer, or consult development charts for desired contrast and grain characteristics. After processing, dry and either scan the negatives or make prints in the darkroom.
For general-purpose shooting keep the film at ISO 400 for balanced results; if push-processing is planned, expose 1 stop or 2 stops under and adjust development accordingly. Use common black-and-white developers and standard agitation to maintain consistent grain and tonal response.
