Medium Format Black-and-White Film Kentmere 400 120, ISO 400, 12 exposures
Kentmere 400 120 is a medium format black-and-white photographic film with ISO 400 sensitivity supplied in 120 roll format. Designed for general-purpose photography, it is suitable for 6x6, 6x7 and 6x4.5 cameras and typically yields around 12 exposures per roll. The film offers fine grain, good sharpness and a broad tonal range that supports flexible development and printing workflows.
Kentmere Pan 400 provides a high effective speed (ISO 400) combined with fine grain and reliable sharpness. Its wide and forgiving exposure latitude enables easier shooting in varied lighting conditions and gives flexibility when exposing and developing. The film’s broad tonal range produces good contrast while retaining detail in highlights and shadows, making it suitable for both classroom practice and everyday photography.
Load the 120 roll into a compatible medium format camera following the camera manufacturer’s instructions for film loading and advance. Meter or judge exposure for ISO 400 and select shutter speed and aperture according to scene requirements; the film’s wide exposure latitude allows some flexibility with exposure. After shooting, process the film using standard black-and-white chemistry and recommended development times for Kentmere Pan 400, or send the roll to a lab experienced with medium format B&W processing. Dry and scan or print using your preferred workflow.
For general shooting where convenience and flexibility are important, expose at box speed (ISO 400) or slightly push/pull only when necessary and consult Kentmere development charts for consistent results. Use appropriate developers and development times to balance grain, sharpness and tonal range based on your intended output (scans or darkroom prints).
