Kentmere PAN 200 is a 35mm black-and-white negative film with ISO 200 sensitivity and 36 exposures. It offers stronger contrast than ISO 100 and ISO 400 films while maintaining pleasant, well-controlled grain and good sharpness. The film has a transparent, low-density base and a lower D-min, which helps preserve shadow detail and keeps graininess in dark areas under control, making it suitable for general-purpose photography including portraits, street and documentary work.
Kentmere 200 provides increased contrast compared with many lower- and higher-speed emulsions, a fine and controlled grain structure, and reliable sharpness. Its low base density and wide tonal range deliver clear shadows and strong midtone separation, useful for photographers who prefer a more contrasting look. The film is compatible with standard black-and-white processing chemistry.
Load the 35mm roll into a compatible film camera and expose at ISO 200 for balanced results; adjust exposure or development to compensate for push/pull processing if required. After shooting, process the film using standard black-and-white developers following the manufacturer's recommended times and temperatures to achieve the intended contrast and tonal range. Scan or print negatives using normal darkroom or digital scanning workflows.
For increased contrast and stronger midtones, process at standard developer concentrations and times; for finer shadow detail consider slight reductions in development or use finer-grain developers. Kentmere 200 responds well to typical manual development routines used by hobbyists and analog photographers.
