Variable neutral density camera filter K&F Concept Nano-X 49 mm
ND (neutral density) filter from K&F Concept reduces the amount of light entering the lens, making it easier to use longer exposures or wider apertures for effects such as motion blur or shallower depth of field. This variable ND filter supports 3 to 7 stops of light reduction while maintaining high image quality through advanced coatings and polishing.
Both sides of the filter receive a multilayer green coating that reduces reflections from the filter surface and the scene, while double-sided polishing balances transmitted light to preserve image clarity. The design and manufacturing process minimize the “X” cross pattern that can appear with some variable ND filters on wide-angle lenses. A hydrophobic and scratch-resistant nanometer coating repels water, dirt, and oils to keep the glass cleaner and more durable in harsh conditions.
Mount the filter on the front of the lens and rotate the outer ring to select the required light reduction between 3 and 7 stops. Use longer exposures or wider apertures as needed to achieve motion blur or shallow depth of field while monitoring for any residual vignetting on wide-angle lenses. Clean the filter with a microfiber cloth and appropriate lens cleaning solution to maintain the hydrophobic coating.
For wide-angle shooting, test the filter at different focal lengths and settings to check for any remaining “X” cross pattern; stop down slightly or adjust the filter rotation if artifacts appear. Store the filter in a protective case when not in use to preserve coatings and prevent scratches.
