Hand cable cutter Knipex 95 16 200 — 200 mm, chrome, red/yellow handles
Knipex 95 16 200 is a 200 mm hand cable cutter designed for cutting copper and aluminium cables in electrical installation and maintenance tasks. The tool features precision-ground, hardened blades and a compact forged chrome body with red/yellow insulated handles. With a weight of approximately 340 g and an ergonomic shape, it enables controlled one-hand operation and clean, deformation-free cuts up to 20 mm diameter.
The precision-ground, hardened blades provide a clean and smooth cut without crushing or deforming conductors. A favourable lever ratio and special blade geometry reduce the handforce required for cutting, while the adjustable bolted joint with self-retaining screw maintains consistent blade alignment. An integrated guard protects against finger pinching and the high-grade oil-hardened special tool steel construction ensures durability in professional use.
Select the correct position on the cutter blades for the cable diameter and place the conductor between the blades. Apply steady hand pressure with one hand, allowing the favourable lever ratio and blade geometry to perform the cut. For thicker cables use the initial and final cutting sections (upper and lower blade) to achieve a complete cut without crushing. Avoid cutting steel wire or hard-drawn copper conductors with this tool.
Use the tool only on copper and aluminium conductors; do not use on steel or hard-drawn copper. Keep blades clean and lightly oiled after use to prevent corrosion. Check and tighten the bolted joint periodically to maintain cutting precision. Store the cutter in a dry place and inspect the insulated handles for damage before working on live circuits.
