End-cutting pliers Knipex 68 01 160
Knipex 68 01 160 end-cutting pliers are designed for cutting wires and small tubes up to 4 mm in diameter. The tool combines a specialised head shape for optimised movement when twisting and tightening steel mesh knots used in reinforced concrete work with hardened cutting edges that handle both soft and hard wire. Constructed from high-grade forged special tool steel and oil-hardened in multiple stages, the pliers provide precise cutting and durable performance for construction and general use.
The head shape allows efficient movement when tightening steel mesh knots, reducing effort during rebar tying. Cutting edges are additionally hardened to approximately 61 HRC, enabling clean cuts in both soft and hard wire. The tool is also suitable for twisting and cutting binding wire. Forged, multi-stage oil-hardening of the special tool steel increases toughness and wear resistance for long service life.
Place the wire or small tube between the cutting edges near the tip of the pliers, position the head so the cutting action aligns with the wire, then squeeze the handles firmly and evenly until the material is cut. For twisting and tightening binding wire, use the head shape to hold and rotate the wire as required before cutting the excess. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves and eye protection) when cutting or twisting wire.
Use the pliers for their intended purposes—cutting wire and small tubes up to 4 mm and handling binding wire. Avoid cutting hardened materials exceeding the specified diameter or using the tool as a hammer or pry bar. Keep cutting edges clean and lightly oiled to maintain performance and prevent corrosion.
