End-cutting pliers Knipex 68 01 180, steel, 180 mm, max pipe Ø 4 mm
Knipex 68 01 180 end-cutting pliers are compact steel cutters with a 180 mm overall length designed for precise flush cutting of nails, wires and small pipes up to 4 mm diameter. The tool features an optimized head shape for efficient movement when tightening steel mesh knots in reinforced concrete work and combines cutting edges suitable for both soft and hard wire. Hardened cutting edges and a forged, multi-stage oil-hardened special tool steel construction ensure long-term wear resistance and consistent cutting performance. At 284 g, these pliers are easy to handle for electricians, installers and maintenance professionals who need a reliable end-cutting tool for on-site tasks.
The cutting edges are additionally hardened to approximately 61 HRC for clean, durable cuts and long service life. The head geometry provides optimized leverage and movement when working with binding wire and steel mesh knots, reducing effort and improving control. High-grade special tool steel, forged and oil-hardened in multiple stages, gives the pliers dimensional stability and resistance to deformation under load. The compact 180 mm length and moderate weight make the tool convenient to use in confined spaces and for repetitive cutting tasks.
Position the cutting edges around the material to be cut as close as possible to the surface for a flush result. Squeeze the handles evenly to achieve a clean shear action; for thicker or harder wire, apply steady pressure to complete the cut. When using the pliers to tighten steel mesh knots, use the head geometry to gain leverage and then cut the binding wire if required. After use, wipe the pliers clean and store them dry to preserve the hardened cutting edges and tool integrity.
Use eye protection when cutting nails or springy wires and choose the pliers for tasks within its rated cutting capacity (up to 4 mm pipe diameter and specified wire types). Avoid cutting hardened steel beyond the tool’s capability to prevent premature wear. Regularly check and maintain the cutting edges and pivot joint to ensure reliable performance.
