Lineman's pliers Knipex 03 01 160 Steel Plastic 160mm 187g
The Knipex Lineman's pliers 03 01 160 are a compact, general-purpose hand tool designed for gripping, twisting and cutting electrical conductors and hardware. Constructed from special forged tool steel with oil hardening, these pliers combine a robust working head with plastic-coated handles for secure handling. At 160 mm overall length and weighing 187 g, they are sized for one-handed use while retaining the leverage and cutting performance required for field and workshop tasks.
These pliers feature dedicated gripping zones for both flat and round material, providing reliable bite for a range of components. The cutting edges are designed to handle soft and hard wires, and the extended cutting length allows work on thicker cables. Cutting edges are induction hardened to approximately 60 HRC for durable edge retention. The forged special tool steel construction and oil hardening give the tool high strength and wear resistance while keeping the tool lightweight and easy to position.
Position the pliers so the appropriate gripping zone contacts the component to be held or bent. For cutting, place the wire as close as possible to the pivot point to use full leverage and reduce required force; use the long cutting edges for thicker conductors. Avoid twisting the pliers during cutting to prevent edge damage. After use, clean off residues and store the pliers in a dry place to prevent corrosion; periodically check cutting edges and pivot for wear.
Use the Knipex Lineman's pliers for electrical and mechanical tasks within their size and cutting limits. Do not use the pliers on live electrical circuits; ensure wires are de-energized before cutting. For optimal service life, avoid cutting hardened steel beyond the stated capacity and keep the pivot joint lubricated.
