Construction screws Koelner/Rawlplug 5.0x80 mm partial thread countersunk head 8 pcs
Pack of 8 Koelner/Rawlplug construction screws, size 5.0 x 80 mm with partial thread and a countersunk head. These screws are intended for joining wooden elements and mixed-material structures where a flush, conical finish is required. The partial thread provides strong clamping of joined parts while the smooth shank portion helps pull components together during installation. The set contains eight pieces suitable for small to medium scale carpentry and construction tasks.
The partial thread design concentrates clamping force at the joined faces while reducing tearing in softer materials. A countersunk (conical) head allows the screw to sit flush with or below the surface, providing a neat finish and enabling subsequent covering with plugs or filler. The 5.0 mm diameter and 80 mm length balance shear strength and penetration depth for typical timber and mixed-material connections. Supplied as a small pack of eight, the set is convenient for repair jobs, frame assemblies, and targeted installations.
This pack contains only eight screws and therefore is not intended for large-scale projects that require high quantities. The partial thread version is optimized for joining lumber and may not provide the same performance as fully threaded fasteners in applications that require full-length threading, such as fastening thin sheets or when continuous thread engagement along the entire shank is necessary.
Pre-drill a pilot hole appropriate for the 5.0 mm diameter and the density of the material to avoid splitting, especially near edges. Position the components to be joined and drive the screw until the countersunk head is flush with the surface or slightly below if you plan to fill or conceal the head. Use an appropriate driver bit and controlled torque to prevent head damage or over-tightening. For load-bearing or structural connections, follow local building codes and complementary fastening practices such as using washers, brackets, or additional mechanical fasteners where required.
Use pilot holes in hardwoods and near board ends, match the driver bit to the screw head, and avoid excessive torque to maintain a clean, countersunk finish and reliable joint performance.
