Gateway/Controller Kramer Electronics FC-28
The Kramer Electronics FC-28 is a PoE-powered control gateway designed for plug-and-play deployment over a customer Ethernet LAN. It enables remote control of connected devices using bidirectional RS-232, IR, GPI/O and relay interfaces. The FC-28 supports multiple simultaneous IP control clients and is suitable for controlling AV equipment, sensors, screens, locks and lighting from a networked location.
The FC-28 offers two bi-directional RS-232 ports, four IR emitter ports, two GPI/O ports configurable as digital input, digital output or analog input, and two relay contact ports. It supports simultaneous IP control communication with up to 40 clients, includes an IR sensor port for learning IR commands, a mini USB port for firmware updates and service, and built-in web pages for browser-based control and support. PoE power and a single Ethernet cable simplify installation and reduce wiring.
Connect the FC-28 to the customer Ethernet LAN using a single Ethernet cable to provide network connectivity and PoE power, or use the 5V input if PoE is not available. Attach target devices to the appropriate ports: RS-232 for serial-controlled equipment, IR emitters for IR-controlled devices, GPI/O for sensor or analog/digital control, and relay contacts for motorized devices. Access the built-in web pages from a browser for configuration, or update firmware via the mini USB port. Multiple IP clients can connect concurrently to send control commands over the network.
For reliable operation, install the FC-28 on a stable rack or shelf with proper ventilation, use shielded Ethernet cabling for longer runs, and configure IP client access and device-specific control protocols through the web interface. Use the IR learning port to capture remote commands for IR-controlled devices and test GPI/O settings in the target environment before scheduling automated control tasks.
