Twist drill bit KWB 238630
The KWB 238630 twist drill bit is a precision-ground, right-hand cutting drill manufactured to DIN 338 standards. It features a Type N geometry with a 135° tip angle, cross-ground according to DIN 1412 C for improved cutting action, and a cylindrical shank. The surface is titanium-nitrided, giving a gold colour and reducing friction to extend service life across a wide range of materials.
TiN (titanium nitride) coating reduces friction and improves wear resistance, while precision grinding and cross-ground flutes provide accurate, self-centring performance. The 135° tip angle and industrial-quality surface treatment enable reliable drilling in both alloyed and unalloyed steel, cast steel, die castings, sintered steel, non-ferrous metals and hard plastics.
Secure the cylindrical shank in a compatible drill chuck and select appropriate speed and feed for the workpiece material. For metals and hard plastics, use steady pressure and cooling or lubrication where suitable. Allow the drill to cut without excessive side load to maintain the self-centring action and tip geometry. Withdraw periodically to clear chips when drilling deep holes.
Use cutting fluid for drilling steels and castings to prolong life and improve chip evacuation; for non-ferrous metals and plastics, reduce speed to avoid burring or melting. Inspect the TiN coating before use and replace the bit when wear compromises centring or cutting performance.
