Twist drill bit KWB 238660
The KWB 238660 twist drill bit is a precision-engineered, single-piece cylindrical drill designed for right-hand rotation and reliable centre-finding. It is titanium-nitrided with a gold-coloured, low-friction surface finish and a 135° tip angle. The flutes and cutting geometry are ground to DIN 338 and the cross-ground tip conforms to DIN 1412 C, providing accurate starts and improved chip evacuation for a range of engineering materials.
The titanium nitride coating reduces friction and increases surface hardness for longer tool life under demanding conditions. Precision grinding and DIN-compliant geometry ensure consistent concentricity and true drilling; the self-centring, cross-ground 135° tip delivers accurate positioning and reduced walking when starting holes. The industrial-quality construction makes the bit suitable for both alloyed and unalloyed steel, cast components, sintered parts, non-ferrous metals and hard plastics.
Secure the twist drill bit in a suitable chuck ensuring the shank is clamped firmly and runout is minimized. Use appropriate spindle speed and feed for the material being drilled; lower speeds for harder materials and higher speeds for non-ferrous metals and plastics. Apply steady, even pressure and allow chips to clear; for deep holes periodically withdraw the bit to remove chips. Use cutting fluid when machining steel and cast materials to reduce heat and improve tool life.
For best results, match drilling speed and lubrication to the material: use cutting oil for steels and castings, higher speeds without excessive pressure for copper and plastics. Inspect the bit for wear and replace when the tip loses geometry to maintain hole accuracy.
